are you a 3d webstudent or 3d classroom student? - maybe ask your tutor when class starts on 24 august!

anyway, lets try a few things here

- press the W on keyboard - anything?

- the X on keyboard is the shortcut to hide/undie the transform gizmo you have lost!

- er ok, try going to the main menu and choose Customise > Preferences to get the Preference Settings dialog.

In this dialog make sure the Transform Gizmos ON box is checked - also make sure the Relative Sizes are 100% etc (at least over 50%)

- remeber that the - and = buttons on keyboard also make larger or smaller the transfrom gizmo, so you might have make it soooo small it is inside the objects?!....so, try pressing F3 to make objects wireframe and you might see it??

- if you are using a pirate version of max it may have the bug with no transform gizmo!

You can also try to update your max2010 with the latest service pack / hotfixes: usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item...0&linkID=9241178

(different download for 32/64-bit versions, also if you have Design 2010, there is separate downloads for that further down the page).

Actually, you should update with the service pack no matter what, as it contains tons of bugfixes and optimizations.

you can also try + and - on your keyboard. + makes the transform gizmo larger and - makes it smaller. I have also experienced a student deleting the position and rotation euler under controllers in the motion panel.

post a picture of your max work here - you may have frozen the table/legs

what i think you may hav done is concerted your obejct to a Editable mesh - like an editable polygonal object for example....you could have right clicked and mistakenly chosen the Convert to Editable Poly in the menu...

if you have done this then select your object > press 4 on your keyboard (to get to the poly sub-object level of your object) > then left click on the bottom of the table leg - the polygopn should go a red colour...then press W (move tool) and grab on of the arrows (axis) and move to extend the length of the leg! PHEW!

...OR select you object, find the LENGTH parameters in the panel to the right of your screen...
